Absolute Poker VIP Status Points

Absolute Poker has instituted an awesome VIP rewards program for their players. It is set up similar to PokerStar's in the fact that as you earn more points, you reach higher levels of VIP status, and gain the benefits of those levels. Once you accumulate 5,000 VIP Status Points (VIPSP's) you become a VIP member. After accumulating 20,000 points you will become a Platinum VIP member. And finally, after accumulating 40,000 VIP status points you will become the top dog at AP, an Elite VIP member.

You earn VIPSP's by playing either real money ring tables, real money tournaments, real money sit and go's, or real money blackjack at Absolute. At the ring tables, players earn 1 VIP for every $4 that they contributed to a pot. So, if it was a heads up pot of $16, you'd receive 2 points since you contributed half of $16, or $8. Tournaments and sit and go's have a different system of VIPSP accumulation.

For each $4 of your buy-in, you earn 1 VIPSP. This is unlike most rewards programs that give you points based on the tournament fee. So, if you enter a $50+5 tournament, you will receive 12.5 VIP points because $50/$4=12.5. NOTE: your tournament fees do not count towards the VIP points system.

So, what are some benefits of becoming a VIP? Well, for starters, a TON! As you move up the ladder you start accumulating points faster, so it's easier to get higher and higher. Once you become a VIP you earn points at the rate of 1.5x a normal player. Platinum earns at a double rate, and Elite earns points at a triple rate.

Also, one thing we found very interesting was the fact that you could actually earn interest on your real money account if you became an Elite VIP. Once you reach that status, AP will pay you 9% yearly interest on the money that is sitting in your player account. That is unheard of! You can't even get close to 9% in a CD or treasury note.
