Million Dollar Poker Share is Launched

Mar 17, 2006

Recently I was browsing some forums I regularly monitor and came across a new site that I found interesting.  It is called Million Dollar Poker Share, and it is based on the idea of pixel advertising, but it is focusing on the niche of online poker sites.

Some of you may be familiar with the Million Dollar Home Page site.  A young college student, who was strapped for cash, made an advertising website.  The idea was that companies can buy "pixels" on the homepage.  The homepage is essentially a large grid of one million pixels, and a company can buy however many they choose for a dollar a pixel.  So, in around 6 months, the college student sold all the pixels and made $1 million.  This site was driven off of its unique idea, and since then many people have tried to create copy-cat sites, but most have been unsuccessful.

However, unlike these other copy-cat sites, I think Million Dollar Poker Share has a good chance.  By focusing on poker and online casino sites the owner has created a "niche market", which is a big advantage in the business world.  Also, the site has a unique promotion no other site has.  The owner is actually giving back some of the profit to the original investors.  When all the pixels are sold, six winners will be drawn and 40% of the site's revenue will be split up between the six lucky winners.  Each pixel a person buys counts as a ticket, and at the end all the virtual tickets are mixed together and drawn from, similar to a raffle drawing.

This is a great opportunity for both the owner of Million Dollar Poker Share and all the advertisers that choose to do business with him.  Not only will the advertisers gain access to thousands of potential visitors, they also get a chance to receive a portion of the site's profit back.  If Million Dollar Poker Share can get a buzz going in the poker world similar to the Million Dollar Home Page, it should be a huge success.
