Best Site for Heads Up Poker
To
make the most money and get the best experience
possible, it’s important to choose your poker site
wisely. There’s nothing worse than finding slow
software, cash out hang-ups, or unpopulated tables at a
poker site after you’ve already went through the trouble
of depositing your bankroll there. Luckily for
you, I’ve already been there and done that (many more
times than I’d like to recall) so you don’t have to.

There are several decent sites to play at, but the one I most highly recommend is Full Tilt Poker. All the sites I took into consideration for this article had security of funds as a given, so that won’t be a factor here. If a site couldn’t even offer that, there was no point in even considering it.
It ended up being the little extra things that the other sites don’t offer that led me to pick Full Tilt as the best site to play heads up. Some of the other sites might have offered some of these benefits, but none of them offered all of these benefits together.
Rake Structure
First of all, Full Tilt offers a fair rake structure. The rake is super-important to take into consideration regarding heads up play. With so many hands dealt per hour and a flop being seen a majority of the time, the rake has a much bigger impact on your bottom line than it does in 6-max or full ring.
If you haven’t used Poker Tracker to look at your rake before, I recommend you do so. The first time you see how much you’ve actually paid in rake, it will blow you away. Play at Full Tilt and save yourself some money.
Heads Up Traffic
The site has plenty of traffic to keep you in action as well. There are always dozens of one-on-one tables with people ready to play. On any given day it doesn’t take long to find an open seat at a HU table and get a match going.
In fact, there are HU tables at Full Tilt ranging from .25/.50 ($50 buy-in) to 500/1000 ($100,000 buy-in). So not only do you have plenty of options, but you can also benefit by observing the high stakes players in action. And if you ever get tired of Hold'em, there are a wide variety of other poker variants offered at Full Tilt.
Software
Another benefit offered by Full Tilt is its lightning fast software. It’s really annoying to try and play a fast paced heads up game only to have to wait an extra three seconds per hand so the site can play a cheesy deal animation. Deal time really does have a major effect on the number of hands you can play in a day. And if you’re a winning player, fewer hands equals less profit.
It’s also nice that the software has a plethora of filters available to make it easier to find the games you want. Tables can be filtered by game type, stakes, number of seats, and number of players. It’s very handy when you play more than one table and need to jump around different tables during a session.
Full Tilt Points
Full Tilt Points are quickly accumulated when playing heads up, so it’s nice that they have a great Full Tilt Points store to redeem those points. Among other things, 50 inch plasma TV’s, iPods, poker books and even an actual Harley-Davidson motorcycle can be purchased through the Full Tilt store.
The customer support has always been competent and responsive. Some of the Full Tilt associates have even posted on the twoplustwo.com forums asking for suggestions to improve the experience at the site. The great thing is that they actually did implement some of the suggestions (resizable tables for one).
Once you’ve either won enough money to cash out (hopefully) or lost enough to need to redeposit (hopefully not), Full Tilt makes it easy to move money around using ePassporte. ePassporte is the largest payment processor for US friendly poker sites and it’s also quite fast. You can even get a debit card to make turning poker funds into actual cash a very painless task.
Full Tilt also offers some huge deposit bonuses so make sure to check it out sometime soon and give your bankroll a boost. If fact, we recently negotiated a special 100% up to $600 bonus for players who sign up through our links. To learn more about the offer, read our Full Tilt Poker Review.
