GNUF Poker Review and Overview (7.5)

GNUF Poker is one of the newest additions to online poker. They were released earlier in 2007 on the Microgaming network.  GNUF Poker offers an extensive lineup of ring games, tournaments, and special promotions including a great sign up bonus and is available for Mac users with a download and flash client.

The room supports the use of Poker Tracker and also contains some great high stakes games and tournaments.

Games and Traffic (7.6)

The game selection at GNUF poker boasts quite a decent list for the most part.  Unlike other poker sites, this one actually has more than just Texas Holdem, Omaha Hi and Hi-Lo, and Stud Hi and Hi-Lo – it also offers 5-Card Stud and 5-Card Draw. 

All 7 of the aforementioned games are available in fixed limit, no limit, and pot-limit.  Stakes go as low as $.02/$.05 all the way up to $200/$400, with the rake percentage based on table limits and player numbers.  As of right now, rakes is 5% of the pot, with no more than $3 taken out from even the highest of pots.

Tournaments (7.0)

Since GNUF is on the Microgaming Network you can guarantee they will never be short on players which is why many of their tournaments are quite popular. They offer plenty of freerolls for the novice player as well as some high stake buy-in tournaments.

The largest guaranteed tournament is the monthly $250,000 with qualifiers and satellites available as well as a weekly $150,000 GP. The majority of the games are formatted for re-buys however you will still find plenty of freezeouts and turbos with buy-ins starting as low as $1 and climbing up to a few hundred.

Sit N Go’s are also available in various formats with some of the fastest SNG games found here including heads up, single table, multi table, rounders, and freerolls. This is one of the only sites I have seen that offer SNG's in such a broad range of stakes. The smallest of sit and go's have $.09 buy-ins, and the biggest sit and go's have $1000 buy-ins.

Software (7.4)

The software at this site is obviously one of the cleaner platforms in the business today.  Powered by MicroGaming, you can count on stability and speed being a top priority.  The graphics are clean and easy to view. The lobby is well structured and simple and you won’t find it cluttered with advertisements like other rooms.

The filter options they use are slightly different than most rooms but is very detailed allowing you to choose your stakes and games. In lobby stats are provided with the standard data you would expect from a room such as pre flop percentage, hands played per hour and average pot size.

GNUF poker offers instant replay for hands played within table games both in ring and tournament games, and the replays are animated. You can also check key stats and player notes while at your table, and you can import any information to Poker Tracker’s software.
