Avoiding Tilt
Playing on tilt is a big problem for many poker players. People usually go on tilt if they are on a dry streak, get a bad beat, or even talk from other players. You could be a winning poker player 95% of the time, but end up down because of your tilt habits. Tilt is one thing that separates the intermediate players from the advanced players.
Too many people go on tilt after a bad beat. Once on tilt, they keep playing worse and worse, and many times they bump the stakes up. This is just asking for trouble. If you can’t control yourself from going on tilt then it is best to walk away after whatever it is that usually causes you to go on tilt.
A few things to help you to stay off of tilt are to take several deep breaths. This helps to relax your whole body. Also, if you just got a bad beat look at it this way, your opponent just got luck and the next time they probably won’t, so that’s pretty easy money.
If you’re one of the people that get affected by what others have to say, simply turn the chat mode off and if that option isn’t available, then do everything you can to not read it. Just play your game and no one else’s. The common tendency is for people to “win their money back,” or aka…go on tilt to try to do so.
So, the basic “tilt” causer is playing angry. Take deep breaths to help relax you and even think about what usually happen when you go on tilt, even thought it will be hard to see at the time. Good luck and I hope this helps.
