Nerves

Omaha Poker is a game that takes a lot of nerves to play. You will constantly face large bets and have to take a lot of chances. The best strategy starts with hand selection. You should be very selective with what hands you play. Bluffing is also a major part of the game. If someone is representing a straight on the flop and the river pairs the board or creates a flush draw, a large bet may push the player holding the straight out of the hand.

Draws and Bluffs

Omaha Poker is also a game of draws and bluffs. There are many factors that will help you determine when a bluff will win you the pot.  Since at the end of the game every player will essentially have nine cards to make a five card hand there are a lot of possibilities. The most important factor in deciding when to bluff is the number of players still in the hand.

Overall you will win more hands at Omaha Poker through bluffing and semi-bluffing than you will by having the best hand. Every table is different so you will have to get a feel for each player and combine that with various bluffing strategies.
