PokerStars Releases Software for Macs

December 15, 2007

For USA online poker players, it's hard enough to find an accepting online poker room to toss chips in. US players on a Mac computer were met with much more difficulties - until now that is.

PokerStars, the largest online poker room in the world in regards to active player traffic, has just launched a Mac Poker Software platform.

Absolute Poker, also accepting US players, releases a Mac friendly java-based poker software earlier this year, but PokerStars main rival, Full Tilt Poker, has maintained a virtual monopoly for US players running Mac OSX with a downloadable online poker software. PokerStars will now be competing right alongside Full Tilt Poker with a download version for Mac users.

Brad Willis of the Poker Stars Blog stated that the Mac Online Poker Software at PokerStars was officially launched Friday, December 7, 2007. "While still in beta mode, the Mac PokerStars software offers nearly all the same features as the regular version," Willis revealed. "It is everything you have come to expect from PokerStars, except now, it's on your Mac."

Creating a downloadable online poker software compatible with Mac computers is becoming more imperative to online poker operations who wish to stay on top of the market.

According to sales records, as released by CnnMoney, 3.1 million Apple Computers sold in 2006 and are expecting a significant increase on those numbers by the end of the 2007 holiday season. Mac computers are currently 3rd in sales, behind Dell and Hewlett-Packard.
