Poker Strategy
Table Selection
Table selection is one of the most overlooked skills in poker. It is a very important thing because you always want to maintain an edge at your table. To do this, you simply have to play with players who are worse than you. You could be the 2nd best player ever, but if you're playing the best player ever you will be at a disadvantage. Here are some characteristics you should look for when choosing a table:
- A high "flops viewed" percentage in Hold'em or Omaha, or a high percentage of players who see the 4th card in 7 card stud.
- A high average pot size.
As long as you're playing online you'll be able to find these characteristics easily. They will be available in the lobby when you click on a table. For flops viewed, you should look for games where at least thirty five percent of players view the flop. This indicates a loose game, which is easier to beat.

Also, the average pot should be six times the size of the big blind. This is a great indicator for no limit Hold'em. A high pot size indicates an easy no limit Hold'em game.
